The UJSL is delighted to announce a brand new sponsor for our Columbus Cup competition this weekend. It is the Western Cape Citrus Producers’ Forum (WCCPF), producers of Summer Citrus from South Africa. The fruit is exported to the United States between May and October each year.

The WCCPF knows that soccer is the sport most widely played by youth in the United States. This tournament is a pilot program. The Forum’s intention is to extend the sponsorship to other US Youth Soccer regions next year and beyond.

“South African Summer Citrus is delicious, nutritional and the ideal snack for half time,” says Piet Smit, CEO of the WCCPF.

All teams participating in the tournament will receive during half time delicious sliced oranges direct from South Africa. In addition, the winning teams at each level will receive a Champion shirt emblazoned with the Summer Citrus logo.

Regional Acme stores will conduct sampling of South African Summer Citrus throughout the tournament weekend.
